Take care of your skin, of course, but also take care of your health and your mind.

Define beauty?

Every person has different standards of beauty. Popular culture influences what we commonly consider to be beautiful or not, and while that can influence our industry, I think that's wrong. Every person has a different standard of beauty and we should learn to value different preferences.

What fascinated you about this line of work?

I have the power to transform any face and bring out the best in everyone.

What makes you a good fit in this fashion industry with the competition being so tough?

I have been focusing on things that aren't scalable - professionalism, preparation, and creativity. Also on networking and good ethics.

Every person has a different standard of beauty and we should learn to value different preferences.

What are the biggest challenges fashion makeup artists have to face?

Early makeup calls (waking up before the crack of dawn for a 12-14 hour workday), long working hours and sometimes working in extreme weather conditions.

As an artist your mind is always open to picking up ideas from everything you see.

What is the difference between applying makeup for a wedding and applying makeup for a fashion shoot?

The makeup itself is pretty much the same. The only difference is the type of lashes we use - usually a bit dramatic for brides. However, there's an added personal element when it comes to brides as you're also dealing with the bride's wedding day nerves and you need to ensure that they stay calm and happy during the session.

What is the one makeup product you can’t work without?

Working in the makeup industry teaches you to be creative and to work with almost anything - but if I had to pick one, it would be my brushes. I've handpicked every brush from different brands and built custom sets that work for me and my style.

Which celebrity would you like to have in your chair?

Kate Winslet. I love how she reinvents herself every decade and has a beautiful face.

You have an incredible career – what have been your highlights?

Quite a few! Getting nominated for Hum Style Awards, getting published internationallyand working with top brands and celebrities in Pakistan. The #1 highlight would be setting up my own makeup studio last year - it took a lot of hard work!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere! As an artist your mind is always open to picking up ideas from everything you see, read, hear or talk about - magazines, the Internet, movies, TV, everyday life, travel. Everything!

Fatima has been nominated for Hum Style Awards, published internationally, and has worked with top brands and celebrities in Pakistan.

How would you describe your signature look and what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?

There's no one signature look - I focus on making sure every aspect is as detailed and refined as possible. I get great feedback on my foundation work; it looks beautiful in person and on camera.

What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to women?

Take care of your skin, of course, but also take care of your health and your mind. De-stressing, proper hydration, sufficient sleep and eating healthy will make your skin look and feel better far more effectively than any products that you'll apply on it.

Share something you would like the world to know about you?

I've been working in this industry for a very long time, it may seem that my work is everywhere all of a sudden but the truth is that I've been consistently working hard for almost a decade.
